Day 4 – Crask Inn to Struie Viewpoint (near Edderton)
Actual distance 48.53Km or 30.16 miles
Total Ascent 424m.
Staying with the 1st Tain Scout Group

It was another good day today. Starting off at Crask Inn we had an unbelievable downhill lasting over 30km, yesterdays efforts certainly paid off! Our route took us over a footbridge across the River Shin. The floor of the bridge was metal grates and certainly induced a little vertigo! Shortly afterwards Cara had a friendly bee hitch a ride in the strap of her cycle helmet. James (who was cycling behind her) was slightly confused as to why she was wobbling and flapping her hands as she descended down a steep stretch of an A road.
We finished off the day with another tough climb, though this one only 178m but with some very steep sections requiring some of the group to walk up resulting in a race to the end-point between Ollie (running) and Bethan (cycling). Not sure who got to the top first – it was that close, so we will leave it to them to decide the winner! Safe to say that both were suitably tired afterwards!
We were very lucky with the weather and the prolonged forecasted showers were happily very brief, so we not only stayed fairly dry but we also saw some sun too!
This evening, Mary and her lovely family (from the 1st Tain Scouts) kindly invited us to their home for dinner. They not only fed us the most delicious gluten free lasagne, but we all had a hot shower (the first shower in 4 days!) and washed our wet, dirty clothes. Totally fantastic and amazingly generous- thank you so much Mary.
